HVDC Senior Project Engineer

Senior HVDC Project Engineer for Offshore Wind Initiatives:

Our Client is now seeking an experienced Senior HVDC Project Engineer to support and drive offshore wind projects through all stages of development. This is a 12 month contract opportunity with extensions.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Project Leadership: Take charge of coordinating, monitoring, and managing HVDC activities including engineering, procurement, fabrication/modification, and installation. Collaborate closely with the HVDC Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and the internal project team.
• Contract Compliance: Ensure HVDC project activities align with key contractual requirements (e.g., PSA, EWA, EPCIA), handling reviews, responses, and effective interface management.
• Documentation & Reporting: Contribute to maintaining project documentation, including program schedules, cost reports, and risk assessments. Prepare status updates and technical documentation for both internal and external stakeholders.
• System Design & Implementation: Support the planning, implementation, and maintenance of HVDC systems to facilitate an integrated onshore transmission setup.
• Team Collaboration: Report directly to the Export Program Director, working closely with teams including the Onshore Transmission Manager, Senior Interconnection Engineer, Electrical Systems Manager, Technical Director, HVDC Contract Lead, and Interconnection Program Lead.
• Project Management: Oversee HVDC project phases from concept through to completion, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and quality-focused project delivery.

Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: A minimum of 10 years’ experience within the electrical transmission or offshore energy sector.
• Technical Knowledge: In-depth expertise in HVAC or HVDC technologies.
• Contracting Knowledge: Familiarity with the structures of Early Works and EPC agreements.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of safety and regulatory standards, including CDM regulations, and the roles of Client and Principal Contractors.
