Services include full-range wind consultancy, including project development, strategic consultancy, feasibility study, bottom-fixed & floating foundation design, certification support, and O&M/asset management.

 

The Opportunity

With a healthy pipeline of Offshore Wind projects already secured and the demand increasing in Japan, we are looking to appoint a Foundation Design Project Manager to join the engineering team. This locally based role in Tokyo, will ensure clients are offered specialist services and expertise to serve their project needs.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the key interface for all communications between clients and internal teams.
  • Build and maintaining strong customer relationships and through regular communication, obtain a sound understanding of key design requirements for projects.
  • Work with the internal teams in order to provide design solutions to meet the clients/projects required outcomes.
  • Attend client meetings weekly and translate this information to the European team.
  • Understand Japan's unique design requirements, including seismic design, and with the cooperation of engineers at each site.
  • Formulate design strategies and processes and prepare documents/presentations to clients and certification bodies such as site condition evaluation, design standard evaluation, overall load evaluation, and support structure design evaluation.

 

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil/Structural or Marine Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years’ working experience in an engineering capacity preferably with 1 year of Offshore wind project experience.
  • 5 years plus experience of working on large projects (civil, structural, marine) i.e. bridges, towers, rail, marine structures will be considered.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build and manage effective working relationships with the clients is essential
  • Native-level Japanese proficiency (regardless of nationality) to understand Japanese technical materials and emphasize communication with Japan clients and certification bodies
  • A proactive problem-solver who excels in tackling complex challenges and takes responsibility for their tasks
  • Strong planning and organisation skills
