Job Summary: The HVDC Converter Valve Expert will be responsible for providing expert technical support, analysis, and solutions related to converter valves used in Voltage Source Converters (VSC) and Line-Commutated Converters (LCC) within HVDC systems. This role demands a deep understanding of power electronics, HVDC technology, and converter valve design, operation, and maintenance. This expert will contribute to ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our HVDC transmission systems.

 

Technical Expertise:

  • Provide expert technical support for converter valve systems in both VSC and LCC HVDC applications.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of converter valve performance, including thermal, electrical, and mechanical aspects.
  • Develop and implement diagnostic and troubleshooting procedures for converter valve issues.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in converter valve technology and HVDC systems.

 

Design and Development:

  • Contribute to the design and specification of converter valves for new HVDC projects.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate converter valve technologies and components.
  • Participate in the development of testing and validation procedures for converter valves.

 

Maintenance and Reliability:

  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies for converter valves to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Conduct reliability assessments and failure mode analysis of converter valve systems.
  • Provide technical guidance for on-site maintenance and repair activities.
  • Develop procedures for condition monitoring of converter valves.

 

Analysis and Reporting:

  • Perform detailed analysis of converter valve operational data and generate comprehensive reports.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to converter valve design, operation, and maintenance.
  • Present technical findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform simulations of valve performance using industry standard software.

 

Collaboration and Training:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and project managers.
  • Provide technical training and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Participate in industry conferences and workshops to share knowledge and best practices.

 

Safety:

  • Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations. o Develop and implement safety procedures for working with converter valve systems.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelors/Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 7-8 years of experience working with converter valves in VSC and LCC HVDC systems.
  • Proven expertise in the design, operation, and maintenance of converter valves.
  • Strong understanding of power electronics, HVDC technology, and control systems.
  • Experience with simulation software (e.g., PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink).
  • Experience with condition monitoring systems for power electronic devices.

Assistant Site Manager - Solar PV - Solar Farm - Construction - UK - ContractJob Overview:A renewable energy EPC is seeking an Assistant Site Manager to support the on-site delivery of utility-scale Solar PV project.
