Commissioning Manager BESS/Energy Storage, South Australia - 2.5 hours from Adelaide

Base plus ongoing 15% Site Incentive + Bonus (up to 16%)

About the Role

This is an urgent role and the opportunity to join the team in a permanent capacity for one of their exciting projects in South Australia. You will be site-based near to Port Pirie, approx. 2.5 hours from Adelaide. The role presented will be working on a large-scale BESS construction project. With numerous projects planned for the future, this role will be expected until mid-2026 and thereafter you will be offered the opportunities to move to other projects secured in Australia.

 

Reporting through to the Senior Site Manager, you will lead a team of approx. 10 consisting of engineers including contractors.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and guiding the commissioning team at site
  • Collaborating and coordinating with your team in the preparation and coordination of projects technical materials
  • Prepare and finalize the Commissioning Plan in line with the project schedule.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and execute testing protocols to achieve commercial operation, based on local utility requirements, and contracts.
  • Communicate commissioning plan and performance test procedures and activities with the client.
  • Compile regular commissioning documents for submittal to the client.
  • Organize start-up and tests of equipment within the scope of the contract and that safe and calibrated test equipment are used.
  • Safeguard the compliance with EHS policies and minimize risks during commissioning.
  • Ensure that all test results are documented in project quality documentation in line with commissioning procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement on developing and capturing technical problem-solving knowledge.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering

 

Required Experience & Skills

  • 5 years’ experience with renewable energy - commissioning project experience in BESS/Energy Storage, Solar, Wind, Utilities., Power Systems or Transmission
  • Background in Electrical Engineering
  • Familiar with relevant codes and standards for ESS and inverters (NEC, IBC, IFC, NFPA, UL, IEC)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate highly complex engineering, construction and operational issues
  • Experience and understanding in CAD drawing
  • Ability to execute many projects and tasks in parallel, self-directed, highly detail-oriented, organized and flexible
  • Understanding of utility generation project engineering, construction, and commissioning practices.
  • Able to read and understand drawings of electrical controls for industrial automation, switchgear control and protection, medium voltage equipment and networks schematics.
  • Knowledge of multimeters, oscilloscopes power quality analysis, harmonics and their operation.
  • Understanding and experience of programmable logic controllers (PLC) and industrial electronic equipment (protection relays, inverters, BMS, etc.).
  • Experience with industrial control methods, switching processes and SCADA systems.

 

Additional Important Information

  • This is a site-based role and requires commitment to work on-site Monday to Friday 7am-6pm, Saturday 8am to 1pm.
  • You will be required to fulfil a roster of 3 months at a time on-site with 2 weeks break. This arrangement will be presented on a rotation structure.
  • The option to drive home on Saturday and return to site early Monday morning will be a choice for more locally based candidates.
  • For candidates considering a FIFO arrangement, all flights and accommodation will be provided.
  • Base salary plus super and 15% site uplift plus eligibility to bonus (up to 16%)
  • Accommodation and expenses will be organised/covered by the client
  • You must be an Australian citizen or hold Permanent Residency, visa sponsorship is not available for this role
