The Company:

A standout investor, developer, and IPP of utility-scale renewable energy projects. A drive to commercialise a strong pipeline of large utility-scale projects (50% in construction, 50% RTB) has created a need for a Principal/Head of Origination to drive agreements with large offtakers, whilst also creating relationships with smaller offtakers, aggregators, and trading houses.

The company has extremely strong finances and a very reputable financial partner, which has moved them into a period of rapid delivery of their portfolio and the freedom to build out a world-class in-house energy markets team and associated infrastructure.

 

The Role

The primary focus of the role will be Germany, with a strong mandate to steadily build a team of originators & direct marketers, whilst also recruiting in-house Trading & Portfolio Management capabilities.

 

This role will take the primary spot in the org chart and will lead to Director of Energy Markets in the near future.

 

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Perform high-priority Origination activities in pursuit of commercialising a multi-GW pipeline of “will definitely be built” Utility-scale renewables projects.
  • Establish & and manage relationships with national and regional utilities, large C&I companies, aggregators, trading houses, and medium C&I companies.
  • Originate, analyse, structure, negotiate, and close complex/long-term offtake agreements
  • Provide commercial support to leadership and project development teams
  • Build and develop the team of originators, direct sales, analysts, traders, and portfolio managers.
  • Progression to Director of Energy Markets or similar role in 3 to 5 years, and a realistic opportunity for a future C-suite position.
  • Strong LTI opportunity included

The Person

The successful candidate will likely have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Law, or Engineering
  • 2+ years PPA origination experience for Offtake, route to market, or commercial management of Utility-Scale Solar PV, Wind, Battery Storage, Green Gases, or Gas.
  • Experience leading PPA negotiations with C&I organisations, Utilities, and IPPs
  • Experience with BESS / tolling agreements would be highly attractive
  • Strong commercial knowledge or modelling capabilities
  • Speak German & English
