Senior Wind Project Developer
Location: Freiburg, Baden-Württemberg (Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days home office)
About the Opportunity
An established and well-respected renewable energy developer is seeking an experienced Senior Wind Project Developer to join its growing development team in Freiburg. With a substantial pipeline of onshore wind projects across Germany, the company is focused on delivering high-quality developments through to Ready-to-Build (RTB), construction and Commercial Operation Date (COD). Rather than expanding headcount significantly, the business is investing in experienced professionals who can independently drive complex projects forward and strengthen an already successful development team.
This is an opportunity to play a key role within a highly experienced organisation developing utility-scale renewable energy projects across wind, solar and battery storage.
The Role
You will take ownership of multiple onshore wind projects throughout the entire development lifecycle, from early-stage development through permitting and construction readiness to commercial operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage multiple onshore wind projects across different development stages.
- Lead projects from early development through permitting, Ready-to-Build (RTB), construction and Commercial Operation Date (COD).
- Coordinate multidisciplinary internal teams including land acquisition, environmental specialists, engineering and permitting.
- Manage relationships with municipalities, authorities, consultants and external stakeholders.
- Drive project schedules, budgets and development milestones.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure projects remain commercially viable throughout the development process.
- Support negotiations with key stakeholders where required.
- Work closely with senior management to prioritise and optimise the development portfolio.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and project execution.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for an experienced wind project developer who can make an immediate impact.
You will ideally have:
• Several years of experience in German onshore wind project development.
• A proven track record of independently managing wind projects throughout the full development lifecycle.
• Experience delivering projects through permitting and ideally through to Commercial Operation Date (COD).
• Strong understanding of the German permitting framework and renewable energy market.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience working with municipalities, authorities and external project partners.
• Strong commercial awareness and project management capabilities.
• The ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
• Fluent German language skills.
