Senior Authorised Person – Contract – Thames Valley/West London – 11kV Cable Overlay – Outside IR35


I’m working with an established Tier 1 SSEN delivery partner looking to appoint an experienced Senior Authorised Person to support a growing programme of 11kV cable overlay works.


The role will involve:

  • Planning and managing 11kV cable overlay works.
  • Developing shutdown plans, switching programmes, isolations and earthing arrangements.
  • Issuing and managing safety documentation and operational instructions.
  • Coordinating pre-cursor works, network checks and readiness activities.
  • Requesting and coordinating the people, plant, materials and specialist resources required.
  • Liaising with the client, delivery teams and wider business.
  • Managing operational and safety interfaces, including PSIs where applicable.
  • Leading shutdown activities and ensuring works are delivered safely.
  • Supporting fault-finding and network issue resolution where required.
  • Managing multiple work packages across the programme.

Experience required:

  • Current or recent SSEN Senior Authorised Person authorisation under SFT for 11kV networks.
  • Strong practical experience of HV switching, isolation and earthing.
  • Experience issuing and managing safety documentation.
  • Working knowledge of SSTS, ESER or an equivalent electrical safety rules framework.
  • Experience planning outages and preparing switching programmes.
  • Background coordinating operational resources and materials.
  • Previous cable overlay or network reinforcement experience would be beneficial.
  • Experience working for a DNO, Tier 1 contractor or specialist HV business.
  • 11kV fault-finding experience would be advantageous.
