PROJECT MANAGER - TRANSMISSION & DISTRIBUTION - UNDERGROUND CABLES / SUBSTATIONS (NORTH SCOTLAND) - HIGH VOLTAGELocation: North Scotland – Aberdeen / Aberdeenshire / Inverness / PeterheadContract: ContractIR35: Outside IR35 Working Arrangement: Hybrid The OpportunityWe are working with major UK power infrastructure contractor delivering multiple projects across the North of Scotland region, predominantly involving underground cabling, civils and distribution substation works.The initial portfolio consists of a number of smaller projects typically valued below £10m, alongside larger schemes entering the pipeline including an upcoming project valued at approximately £20m. The requirement has been created due to increased workload and continued growth across the contractor's Scottish operations.Key Responsibilities:Manage multiple power infrastructure projects across the North of Scotland.Take responsibility for projects throughout the construction and delivery lifecycle.Manage civils and underground cable packages across distribution infrastructure projects.Oversee programme, resource, contractor and project delivery requirements.Coordinate activities across project teams, subcontractors, clients and other stakeholders.Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with programme and contractual requirements.Provide project leadership across site delivery while maintaining visibility across programme, progress and key project risks.Requirements:Strong Project Management experience within the UK Transmission & Distribution sector.Previous experience working for a Tier 1 power infrastructure / utilities contractor is highly desirable.Strong experience delivering underground cable and associated civils packages.Experience delivering projects for SSEN would be particularly relevant.Candidates with either a civils or electrical background can be considered, although strong civils / underground cable knowledge is preferred.Contract Details:Rolling 12-month contract opportunityOutside IR35 Flexible working arrangement depending on candidate locationStart Date: depends on candidates availability, can be an immediate start due to the rapidly increasing project workloadIf you would be interested in working for a current leading and rapidly growing contractor in the T&D space, please apply by submitting your CV or reach out directly to roman.floyd@hunterphilips.com.

BESS Commissioning Engineer - Barstow, California, USA - $Excellent Day Rate + Expenses - 3 Month Contract + Likely Extensions - January 2027 Start - W2 Engagement StructureWe are supporting a leading global energy technology business with the appointment of multiple Commissioning Engineers / Technicians for a major BESS augmentation project in California.The project is expected to mobilize in January 2027, with commissioning activities running until approximately April 2027.This is an electrically focused commissioning position, with engineers responsible for hands-on commissioning, troubleshooting, fault finding and verification of electrical circuits across the BESS installation.Key Details:Location: Barstow, California, USAStart Date: January 2027Duration: 3 month contractWorking Pattern: Monday to Friday or 6 weeks on / 1 week off rotationPackage: $Excellent day rate + expensesEngagement Structure: W2Responsibilities:Perform electrical commissioning and troubleshooting activities across the BESS installation.Read, interpret and work from electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.Trace electrical circuits and wiring to identify and resolve faults.Carry out fault finding, testing and verification of electrical systems.Support commissioning activities across systems operating at approximately 1,500V DC / 1,000V AC.Identify and troubleshoot wiring, installation and equipment issues during commissioning.Work closely with site management, engineering and wider commissioning teams to resolve technical issues.Maintain commissioning and testing documentation.Support safe and efficient completion of commissioning activities in line with project requirements.Requirements:Ideally 2+ years' electrical commissioning, testing or troubleshooting experience.Strong ability to interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.Practical electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting experience.Experience working with LV/DC electrical systems, power generation or renewable energy equipment.Previous BESS / Energy Storage commissioning experience is advantageous but NOT essential.Candidates from Solar, Wind, Substations, Power Generation, Oil & Gas or other industrial electrical commissioning environments are encouraged to apply.Comfortable working in a hands-on, site-based commissioning environment.Project-specific BESS and system training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for experienced electrical commissioning professionals looking to move into the rapidly growing utility-scale energy storage sector.Interested? Senior Authorised Person – Contract – Thames Valley/West London – 11kV Cable Overlay – Outside IR35 I’m working with an established Tier 1 SSEN delivery partner looking to appoint an experienced Senior Authorised Person to support a growing programme of 11kV cable overlay works.The role will involve:Planning and managing 11kV cable overlay works.Developing shutdown plans, switching programmes, isolations and earthing arrangements.Issuing and managing safety documentation and operational instructions.Coordinating pre-cursor works, network checks and readiness activities.Requesting and coordinating the people, plant, materials and specialist resources required.Liaising with the client, delivery teams and wider business.Managing operational and safety interfaces, including PSIs where applicable.Leading shutdown activities and ensuring works are delivered safely.Supporting fault-finding and network issue resolution where required.Managing multiple work packages across the programme.Experience required:Current or recent SSEN Senior Authorised Person authorisation under SFT for 11kV networks.Strong practical experience of HV switching, isolation and earthing.Experience issuing and managing safety documentation.Working knowledge of SSTS, ESER or an equivalent electrical safety rules framework.Experience planning outages and preparing switching programmes.Background coordinating operational resources and materials.Previous cable overlay or network reinforcement experience would be beneficial.Experience working for a DNO, Tier 1 contractor or specialist HV business.11kV fault-finding experience would be advantageous.Key contract details:On going work Day rate Field-based across the Thames Valley, including Newbury, High Wycombe, the M3 corridor and West LondonImmediate requirementIf you are interested in the role then please send your CV to josie.wade@hunterphilips.com and book in a call with me.
