Control Engineer – 12 month contract– Hybrid – Energy Infrastructure – April Start - Monday to Friday - Day rate, outside IR35


We are currently looking for a Control Engineer to join a growing client supporting the operation and control of their expanding EHV network across the UK. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in supporting a control environment, ensuring the safe and efficient management of HV/EHV assets up to 132kV, and contributing to the development of operational processes as the business continues to scale.


Requirements

  • Operational experience on HV/EHV networks (up to 132kV)
  • Experience Senior Authorised Person level desirable
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety rules
  • Experience with switching schedules, permits, and network operations
  • Experience within DNO, IDNO, or transmission environments desirable

Responsibilities

  • Control and operate HV/EHV networks safely and efficiently
  • Review and approve switching schedules, PTWs, Sanctions for Test, and Limitations of Access
  • Monitor SCADA systems and respond to alarms and abnormal conditions
  • Coordinate fault response and dispatch field teams or contractors
  • Review and approve RAMS for network activities
  • Support Approval to Energise processes for new connections
  • Maintain operational records, logs, and key network documentation
  • Liaise with DNOs/TOs and customers for cross-boundary operations
  • Provide support during incidents and adverse weather events
  • Assist in development of operational procedures and policies
  • Support SCADA commissioning activities for new EHV assets
  • Mentor junior engineers and support development across the team
  • Ensure compliance with ESQCR, DSRs, and internal procedures

  • Hybrid working (home-based with some office/site presence)
  • Monday to Friday
  • Day rate, outside IR35
