400kV Senior Authorised Person– 10 month contract– Outside IR35 – Onshore substation– ASAP start date – Hybrid role based in Scotland – Monday to Friday


I am looking for a 400kV Lead Senior Authorised Person to take the substation project through commisioning and over to energisation taking responsibility for SFTS.


Requirements:

  • Previous authorisations 400kV as a Senior Authorised Person
  • Ideally previously experienced as a Lead SAP
  • Commissioning engineer experience
  • Solid understanding of Electrical Safety relating to transmission and offshore wind
  • Experience and understanding on an ONS substation
  • DNO or National Grid experience is desired but not essential
  • Experience within transmission


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee offshore transmission infrastructure and commissioning of works
  • Coordinate activities alongside onshore Project Managers, acting as the key point of contact for offshore operations.
  • Carry out monthly inspections, routine maintenance, and raise defect notifications on equipment.
  • Investigate site issues and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Plan and manage outages, ensuring safe execution.
  • Taking the lead on commissioning through to energisation
  • Lead defect resolution and snagging with OEM suppliers to maintain operational performance.
  • Manage and resolve faults across offshore assets, ensuring effective escalation and follow-up.
  • Monitor and support Senior Authorised Persons
  • Drive knowledge transfer from experienced 400kV SAPs, ensuring team competence and succession planning.
  • Act as a hub leader, coordinating workstreams, team activities, and training delivery.

  • Day rate, outside IR35
  • Monday - Friday
  • 10 month initial contract
  • Hybrid (minimum requirement of 3 days on site. You may be required onsite more as per project requirements)
