POWER SYSTEM ENGINEER – DYNAMIC GRID MODELLING - PSS/E & PSCAD - NETHERLANDS


Location: Netherlands

Contract Type: Permanent or long-term contract/freelance

Duration: 12-month rolling contract with high likelihood of extension

The Opportunity:


An opportunity for experienced Power System Engineers to join a major European transmission environment undergoing significant expansion as increasing renewable generation creates greater complexity across the electricity network.


The team is strengthening its internal power-system analysis and grid-modelling capability, with particular focus on supporting the development and integration of offshore transmission infrastructure.


You will work on dynamic grid modelling, translating technical specifications into models and requirements while helping define the technical profiles required for new parties connecting to the transmission network.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and assess power-system models using PSS/E and PSCAD.
  • Analyse system dynamics, stability and network behaviour across a complex transmission system.
  • Translate engineering specifications into appropriate grid models, technical requirements and system studies.
  • Define technical profiles and requirements for new parties connecting to the transmission system.
  • Support the continued development of offshore transmission and grid-integration capability.
  • Provide specialist power-system engineering input into increasingly complex network conditions and system behaviour.
  • Work alongside internal engineering specialists to strengthen modelling processes, standards and technical knowledge.


Qualifications & Experience:


  • Strong background in Electrical Engineering / Power Systems Engineering.
  • Practical experience with PSS/E.
  • Practical experience with PSCAD.
  • Strong understanding of power-system dynamics and network behaviour.
  • Experience with grid modelling and power-system studies.
  • Strong electrical and transmission-system fundamentals.
  • Experience within a TSO, grid operator, transmission organisation, power-system consultancy, utility, electrical technology manufacturer or related environment would be relevant.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical specifications and translate them into modelling and system requirements.


International candidates can be considered, but there must be a realistic willingness to relocate to / establish yourself in the Netherlands.
