Senior HVDC Technical Specialist (VSC Technology) - United Kingdom (Various Offices) Hybrid - Salary Excellent (commensurate with experience) - Excellent Bonus & Benefits Package

Company Overview: We are working with a leading engineering consultancy specialising in electrical power infrastructure projects. They are dedicated to delivering innovative solutions in the energy sector, and are currently seeking a skilled HVDC Technical Specialist with experience in Voltage Source Converter (VSC) technology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide expert technical advice during HVDC Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) design reviews.
• Witness HVDC OEM factory testing, conduct on-site inspections, and oversee commissioning of HVDC projects.
• Develop HVDC projects, including technology review/selection and bid preparation/review.
• Develop technical and functional specifications for HVDC converters, with a focus on VSC technology.
• Design primary plant layouts for HVDC converter stations.
• Perform design reviews of HVDC Control and Protection systems.
• Provide engineering design input to major electrical power infrastructure development projects through various lifecycle stages.
• Coordinate with client project teams and internal disciplines to ensure project success.
• Provide OEM support services.
• Supervise site pre-commissioning and commissioning oversight.
• Conduct due diligence assessments.
• Offer technical expert services as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Professionally qualified in Electrical Engineering (CEng or working towards).
• Demonstrable understanding of HVDC station engineering, control and protection, and system studies.
• Experience with VSC technology is essential.
• Ability to coordinate across project disciplines, external subcontractors, and remote offices to identify and mitigate technical risks and ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Interest in actively developing external (client) and internal relationships and participating in working groups such as CIGRE, IET, and other professional bodies.
