OSS Electrical Engineer – 6 month contract + – Inside IR35 – ASAP start – England and Scotland
I am looking for a OSS Electrical Equipment Engineer who will play a crucial role in delivering the MEQ packages. The role involves overseeing tendering, negotiating contracts, and ensuring technical standards are met. This person will need to be flexible with travelling occasionally to Europe to assist with contract negotiations and project management.
Responsibilities:
Scope, tender, and appoint the necessary electrical design activities to establish a robust electrical design basis, appropriate for all stages of project development.
Manage the provision of main electrical equipment design data for integration into electrical design studies and related activities, such as offshore and onshore substations.
Lead the main electrical equipment package to ensure equipment is properly specified, designed, manufactured, tested, stored, delivered, installed, and commissioned according to project requirements and industry standards.
Document all assessments, advice, and recommendations in compliance with internal procedures and industry best practices, ensuring thorough technical and commercial due diligence supports business decisions.
Stay informed of the latest technical and commercial developments, identifying new technologies that could reduce costs, mitigate risks, or improve safety.
Review contractor and manufacturer documentation to ensure compliance with project and business requirements, negotiating changes with suppliers as needed.
Oversee quality assurance/control inspections and witness key tests during equipment manufacturing, including factory acceptance tests as per the inspection and test plan.
Ensure the successful installation of all equipment supplied under the Main Electrical Equipment contract.
Support the project commissioning team to achieve successful commissioning of all equipment under the Main Electrical Equipment contract.
Capture and share lessons learned from offshore wind farm development, construction, and operation across projects. Establish mechanisms for this process and ensure their implementation by the engineering team to enhance business value.
Interfacing with different leads
Interface and collaborate with O&M leads and Delivery leads to ensure the requirements are specified and met.
Requirements
Experience and understanding of EHV/HV systems specifically relating to the grid and offshore wind farms
Must have experience and knowledge of : EHV/HV Switchgear , Power transformers , Neutral Earthing Transformers/Reactors , Shunt Reactors/Capacitors , Reactive Power Compensation Equipment , Harmonic Filters
Experience in Power distribution or T&D
