LEADING CLAIMS, VARIATIONS & CONTRACTUAL STRATEGY FOR MAJOR BUILDING PROJECTS
The Company:
A growing construction and engineering organisation delivering major building, MEP, and public-sector infrastructure projects across Greece. With a strong pipeline of commercial developments, airport upgrades, large renovations, and complex technical facilities, the business is expanding its commercial governance capability and requires a senior professional to lead claims and contractual strategy across multiple projects.
Responsibilities:
- Leading the preparation, substantiation, and negotiation of claims, variations, extensions of time (EoTs), and commercial disputes across construction and MEP projects.
- Analysing contract terms, project records, schedules, and cost data to build robust claim positions aligned with Greek public procurement legislation (Law 4412/2016) and contractual obligations.
- Managing the end-to-end claims process from identification, entitlement assessment, quantum analysis, timeline impact evaluation, and submission to negotiation and resolution.
- Working closely with Project Directors, MEP Managers, Planners, QS teams, Procurement, and Legal to ensure consistent commercial strategy across all projects.
- Establishing strong evidence-based documentation systems for claims defence and contractor/subcontractor negotiations.
- Supporting commercial risk reviews, contract interpretation, dispute avoidance strategies, and early-warning procedures.
- Advising project teams on contractual rights, obligations, and risk exposure throughout project delivery.
- Preparing detailed contractual reports for senior management and contributing to the improvement of claims governance frameworks.
- Providing support during tendering and contract review to mitigate future claims risk.
The Person:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Law, or related technical/commercial field.
- 10+ years’ experience in claims management within construction, MEP contracting, or public-sector infrastructure.
- Proven expertise in claims preparation, EoT analysis, contractual interpretation, and negotiation.
- Strong understanding of planning principles, delay analysis methodologies, and project controls.
- In-depth knowledge of Greek public procurement requirements, including Law 4412/2016.
- Excellent analytical capability, documentation discipline, and ability to manage complex multi-party communications.
- Fluent in Greek and English.
