Are you ready to lead a team to continue the growth of a high-impact renewable energy business?

We’re seeking an entrepreneurial Head of Development to take charge of day-to-day operations and drive project development across North & Eastern Germany.

It is important to note, you do not need direct 'team leading' experience for this role.

The Company

An established, fast-growing renewable energy developer with a strong foothold in Germany’s solar and storage market. Backed by long-term investment and a strong development pipeline of around 2GW of clean energy projects, including 400MW already at advanced RTB status. They specialise in delivering large-scale, community-supported solar and battery storage assets.

The mission is to accelerate the energy transition by combining technical precision, regional engagement, and a long-term partnership approach with municipalities, landowners, and utility partners. Operating with a lean, highly professional team, they focus on quality, transparency, and long-term value creation.

The Role

As Head of Project Development, you will play a central role in shaping and delivering large-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage (BESS) projects across Germany, with a particular emphasis on northern and eastern regions.

  • Lead and mentor a development team (Project Developers + GIS expertise).
  • Take a hands-on role in identifying, assessing, and progressing new Solar PV and BESS sites.
  • Manage the full permitting cycle from early land acquisition through to “construction-ready” status.
  • Coordinate with municipal bodies, planning authorities, grid operators, and other regional stakeholders.
  • Oversee project financials including budgets, forecasts, invoicing, and internal reporting processes.
  • Ensure timely completion of all required permits, documentation, and regulatory submissions.
  • Support ongoing improvement of internal development procedures and quality standards.
  • Represent the business externally at industry events and meetings.
  • Lead key negotiations, contribute to financing activities, and support investor-facing project requirements.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with municipalities, landowners, and local partners.
  • Guarantee compliance with regulatory, environmental, and technical standards across all projects.
  • Report directly to board-level leadership.

The Person

  • A degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Renewable Energy or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience, with at least 3 years in renewable energy project development (Solar PV strongly preferred).
  • Experience guiding or mentoring colleagues; formal line management is advantageous but not essential.
  • Willingness to work onsite across Northern Regions when needed.
  • Strong capability in project budgeting, forecasting, and structured reporting.
  • Good knowledge of permitting processes and experience working closely with municipalities and regional authorities.
  • Full professional fluency in German and English.
