A leading renewable energy developer and Independent Power Producer (IPP) is currently looking to secure a Project Engineering Manager to support the delivery of a growing portfolio of utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage projects across Germany.

 

The Company:

My client is a rapidly expanding renewable energy developer and Independent Power Producer (IPP) with a strong presence in the German market. Active across the full project lifecycle, from origination and development through to construction and long-term operation, the business has built a reputation for delivering high-quality renewable energy infrastructure and is continuing to scale its project pipeline significantly.

 

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of critical engineering and grid connection activities, while helping shape technical standards and project execution within a highly entrepreneurial environment.

 

The Role:

As Project Engineering Manager, you would be responsible for:

  • Leading grid connection activities and managing technical interfaces with grid operators, certification bodies, and other key stakeholders.
  • Overseeing the electrical design and engineering of utility-scale solar PV and BESS projects, including cable systems, substations, transformer stations, inverters, and associated infrastructure.
  • Managing the planning, tendering, and delivery of electrical infrastructure works to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Providing technical leadership on all electrical engineering and grid-related matters throughout development and construction phases.
  • Supporting the optimisation of engineering standards, project execution processes, and technical best practices across the organisation.

 

The Person:

The successful candidate will likely have:

  • 3+ years of experience within project engineering, electrical design, grid connection, or renewable energy infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of medium-voltage systems and German grid connection requirements.
  • Fluency in German & English

We’re seeking an entrepreneurial Head of Development to take charge of day-to-day operations and drive project development across North & Eastern Germany. It is important to note, you do not need direct 'team leading' experience for this role. The Company An established, fast-growing renewable energy developer with a strong foothold in Germany’s solar and storage market. Backed by long-term investment and a strong development pipeline of around 2GW of clean energy projects, including 400MW already at advanced RTB status. They specialise in delivering large-scale, community-supported solar and battery storage assets. The mission is to accelerate the energy transition by combining technical precision, regional engagement, and a long-term partnership approach with municipalities, landowners, and utility partners. Operating with a lean, highly professional team, they focus on quality, transparency, and long-term value creation. The Role As Head of Project Development, you will play a central role in shaping and delivering large-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage (BESS) projects across Germany, with a particular emphasis on northern and eastern regions. Lead and mentor a development team (Project Developers + GIS expertise). Take a hands-on role in identifying, assessing, and progressing new Solar PV and BESS sites. Manage the full permitting cycle from early land acquisition through to “construction-ready” status. Coordinate with municipal bodies, planning authorities, grid operators, and other regional stakeholders. Oversee project financials including budgets, forecasts, invoicing, and internal reporting processes. Ensure timely completion of all required permits, documentation, and regulatory submissions. Support ongoing improvement of internal development procedures and quality standards. Represent the business externally at industry events and meetings. Lead key negotiations, contribute to financing activities, and support investor-facing project requirements. Build and maintain trusted relationships with municipalities, landowners, and local partners. Guarantee compliance with regulatory, environmental, and technical standards across all projects. Report directly to board-level leadership. The Person A degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Renewable Energy or a related field. 5+ years of professional experience, with at least 3 years in renewable energy project development (Solar PV strongly preferred). Experience guiding or mentoring colleagues; formal line management is advantageous but not essential. Willingness to work onsite across Northern Regions when needed. Strong capability in project budgeting, forecasting, and structured reporting. Good knowledge of permitting processes and experience working closely with municipalities and regional authorities.
