400kV Lead Commissioning Engineer - SSEN 400kV GIS Substation Extension - Aberdeenshire, Scotland, UK - £Excellent Day Rate - 12 Month Contract + Likely Extensions - November Start - Monday to Friday (10 Hour Days) + Potential Weekend Work - Outside IR35We are currently looking for an experienced Lead Commissioning Engineer to support a major SSEN Transmission 400kV GIS substation extension project in Aberdeenshire.The successful candidate will take a lead role across the commissioning programme, overseeing the integration and energisation of new 400kV assets into an existing operational transmission substation.Responsibilities:Lead and coordinate commissioning activities for the 400kV GIS substation extension, from pre-commissioning through to final energisation and handoverManage the commissioning and integration of new 400kV GIS bays and associated primary plant into the existing operational substationCoordinate primary and secondary commissioning activities across GIS, protection, control, interlocking and auxiliary systemsLead the testing and integration of busbar protection, including modifications and extensions required to accommodate the new 400kV assetsOversee IEC 61850 testing and integration between new and existing protection and control systemsPlan and coordinate commissioning activities around existing live 400kV infrastructure, outages and staged energisationsDevelop, review and manage commissioning programmes, procedures, ITPs, test documentation and energisation plansCoordinate commissioning engineers, OEM representatives, subcontractors and other project stakeholdersManage technical interfaces between the existing substation and new extension works, identifying and resolving commissioning issuesLiaise closely with SSEN Transmission throughout testing, outage, energisation and handover activitiesReview test results and ensure commissioning documentation is completed to the required SSEN standardsProvide technical leadership throughout multiple commissioning phases of the long-term projectRequirements:Proven experience as a Lead/Senior Commissioning Engineer on 400kV transmission substationsStrong experience commissioning 400kV GIS and associated HV primary plantValid or previous SSEN authorisation strongly preferred, but not essentialStrong understanding of busbar protection and IEC 61850 systemsStrong knowledge of protection, control and secondary systemsExperience working on substation extensions, brownfield interfaces and existing live HV infrastructureExperience coordinating outages, staged energisation and handover of transmission assetsExcellent leadership, technical coordination and communication skillsAbility to manage multiple commissioning phases throughout a long-term projectRight to work as a contractor in the UKInterested?
